Here is a thought. Why is Twilight successful? Is it because it is so romantic? Many romantic movies have been made before. What do teenagers find so appealing? Is it because it is Epic? In the sense that it combiens both romance and adventure, with Mythical creatures?
Anyways here is a list of movies which deserve more success than Twilight and didn't get that much.
Keith 2008 with Jesse Maccartney and Elisabeth Harnois
1. Keith (2008)
Natalie is a perfect student, with straight As, she is a tennis champion and is also very popular. She starts dating the new and popular exchanged stud(ent). That is until she is paired for Chemistry with Keith a weird truck lover and impulsive student.
They form a ambigious relationship as Keith begins to free Natalie form the pressure she is feeling, but at the same time adds up to it when he suddenly stops coming into school.
First of all, the acting. I had no idea who Jesse Maccartney was and I completely watched this film without any prejudices against any of the cast members. You find yourself thrown into the life of this perfect student with unease as everything seems too good to be true. But than Keith appears and everything seems unsure. He suggests weird games/pranks to play on other people and make fun of them, but always in a lighthearted spirit.
I thought Jesse Maccartney did a pretty good job as the witty yet a bit outsider character. He plays Keith as a lovable Character and when he stops talking to Natalie you actually feel like she does the desire to see him again.
But you also feel his sorrow. He sometimes pretend to enjoy being an outcast but at the same time he seems very lonely and secretive.
This movie is one of my favorite, because it stands between a nice romantic comedy and a deep reflectional drama.
